VRAIn is a Barcelona-based startup founded in 2020 by Daniel Esteban Ferrer, a telecommunications engineer with a PhD in Nanotechnology and a postdoctorate in Virtual Reality.

He became aware of the limitations in health services including preventable errors in diagnoses and lengthy medical training that could be improved through innovative technology

Dr. Daniel Esteban

Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Daniel Esteban-Ferrer PhD is the CEO of VRAIn. Recognizing a gap for innovation in bioimaging visualization, Daniel aimed to solve the greatest challenges of bioimaging with 3D visualization and analysis using Virtual Reality (VR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Completing his Ph.D. in Nanotechnology, Daniel was also a Marie Curie Postdoctoral fellow for VR and nano-analytical tools. His wide range of analytical and technical skills motivates the bio-imaging standards for VRAIn. Daniel uses an extensive understanding of technology to design the disruptive 3D bioimaging visualizations and analyses using VR and AI that is VRAIn.

Dr. Joan Fité

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Joan Fité is the Chief Medical Officer at VRAIn and a vascular and endovascular surgeon working at Hospital de Sant Pau – UAB. He is an associate professor in the medical faculty at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona – campus Sant Pau, and he has been recognized as a Fellow of the European Board of Vascular Surgery (FEBVS) completing his Ph.D. in the field of aortic disease diagnosis. His main fields of interest are vascular disease diagnosis, planning, and innovation in training for young specialists. Joan’s extensive clinical expertise and interest in vascular diagnosis combined with clinical work represent the medical standards at VRAIn, with the aim of improving patient security and optimizing diagnostic procedures for clinicians.

Azucena Rodríguez

Chief Operations Officer

Azucena Rodríguez is the COO of VRAIn. Her main responsabilities are the design, implemention and optimization of VRAIn’s business strategy from a human-centered approach of its whole value ecosystem. With a MSc in Optometry and Vision Sciences and a Bachelor´s Degree in Law, her scientist-technical, legal and academic education allows her to identify market needs related to visualization and analysis of biomedical images to provide doctors, scientists and other life science professionals with new insights for the earliest, easiest and clearest medical diagnosis, treatment and training ever.

Pedro Omedas

Chief Technology Officer

Pedro Omedas, currently the CTO at VRAIn, holds a degree in computer engineering, a Master’s in Digital Audiovisual Communication and Production, and a postgraduate degree in Videogames creation and design. With a background as the CTO of a health tech startup, he excelled in forming and leading technical and quality teams, while also showcasing his leadership in coordinating multidisciplinary technical teams for research and innovation projects. Pedro’s technical expertise spans VR, AR, video games, and immersive installations. Additionally, he shares his knowledge as a university professor, specializing in Extended Reality and Video Game development.

Jordi Carbó

Chief Information Officer

Jordi is the CIO at VRAIn, responsible for the strategy and direction of IT operations. With a degree in Telecommunications Engineering and a Master’s in Project Management, Jordi has a hybrid profile that integrates a deep business vision with solid knowledge in IT infrastructure and cybersecurity. With over 15 years of experience leading digital transformation projects in other large companies, he ensures technological alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
